Yeah, if you've been checking this space over the last few months, you'll have noticed that there's not much going on. No posts since July, no word of when I'll be back, no nothin'! Well, Julia Child always said "Never apologize", but....I'm sorry! I guess the blog and I sorta went into hypersleep on our way to Europa or something, so just please be a little more patient while I marshal my hazy thoughts and stumble around my pink and green spacecraft for a while and remember what the hell it is I'm supposed to be doing. You'll be hearing lots more about what in blazes has been going on, I promise! Soon this ghost town will gather up all the tumbleweeds and put out the Welcome mat.
And speaking of ghost towns, I saw the greatest documentary about ghost towns once a few years ago. It was on "Nature" and it talked about all the little animals that move in and set up shop in the old weathered remains of houses and stores in ghost towns. One thing they did that I thought was brilliant was this: they showed a jawbusting fight between two little furry creatures on the floor of an abandoned saloon and every time one would strike the other, they put in sounds from a real human fight. The ground squirrel's tiny paw would reach out and scratch a grey rat's nose and you'd hear a big heavy punch and a man saying "UUghh!!". It was so neat.
